we're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks

this morning, i inexplicably woke up with "total eclipse of the heart" stuck in my head. i'm not sure what that signifies, but i'll admit - it made me a little nervous.

i like that i got a voicemail from eric, talking all about how wonderful everything is in new york, and the voicemail finally cut him off when he was saying, "seriously, everything tastes better in new york, and my facial hair grows slower so i don't have to shave as mu--"

i laughed. i mean, who says that? eric says that.

tonite i am finally going to re-wear my bridesmaid dress from kristina & brian's 2005 wedding. it is a long, dark purple satin number. well, it was. last nite it became a short dark purple satin number, with a raggedy edge, thanks to a pair of kitchen scissors. it's going to be an awesome part of my pixie costume for this evening.

i know some of you may be confused, because you've heard that i was a pirate today, or you've seen me walking around dressed as a pirate. this is so. i am a pirate right now, complete with duck on shoulder. but here's the facts: a) i had trouble deciding on a costume. b) it's pretty rare for me to wear the same outfit all day, regardless of what day it is. i think i picked this up from audrey - you don't shower very often, but you change your clothes at least twice a day. even if what you wear to work is pretty similar to what you wear off-work, it's still nice to change, to feel like you have more options and like you are not always the person that you are at the office. so, over the years, i've become a master of the quick costume change when i get home from work, even if i'm not planning to leave the house again that nite. so obviously, on halloween, i'm going to want to change my clothes when i get home. but i can't change out of my costume! it's still halloween! solution? two costumes. brilliant!

also, kids get pirates. and last year i was a butterfly, and i found that the wings were a little inconvenient while filing.

ALSO, i have a flat tire, and i think i'll get a better deal at the mechanic's if i growl a bit and threaten them with my plastic cutlass... versus if i show up dressed like tinkerbell.

oh, and there's this:

you're welcome.

“I’m Esther Greenwood.”
“Who’s that?”
“Um, from The Bell Jar, hello?”
“I’m sad too.”

love it. did you watch the office? jim's costume was a name tag that said "hi, my name is dave"

Haha. I'm glad that was your favourite part of the stuffwhitepeoplelike entry too. We should swap recipes.

I haven't seen it! I haven't seen new office or new pushing daisies for a couple weeks. Hopefully I'll have a chance to catch up soon.

See you in... less than eight weeks??(!)(??!)
