i love that, because this is my blog, i get to pretend like that's important.
in other news, i have been running around a good bit, despite all of the sneezes that are currently trapped inside my nose. we're shooting our graduate production final projects over the next few weeks. i was able to cast some undergraduates, and i think they will be good. although it's funny because they're either very well-mannered or someone in their department has really exaggerated the importance of working with screen/playwriting MFAs. i'm used to emailing people in colorado who are very busy and only kind of interested in being in a movie. here, i email people who are currently in, like, three other productions, and they're all, "I HAVE TUESDAY AFTERNOON FREE I COULD TOTALLY DO IT THEN I AM REALLY EXCITED." except their punctuation is much better.
i'm going to shoot my film at my friend neal's apartment, and he's going to have to move his sofa to accommodate me. he has a kitchen table and i don't. he's being very nice about it. all of this is so i can avoid having to get a kitchen table, even though that's something i need anyway. when you don't have a car, you spend a lot of your time trying not to buy anything heavy.
i went to a dance party at my brother and his wife's, and that was fun. i saw The Seagull, and it was very good. i've even decided to stop hating chekov plays, in its honor. (my only previous experience with live chekov was The Three Sisters, which has the distinction of being the only play to ever lull me to sleep.) i started to register for classes for the next term... it looks like i'll be taking a class on writing the short play, and another on writing the science fiction film. i'm hoping my third class will be a history class about Food, Hunger, and Power.
i still have a lot to learn in this world, and only some of it has to do with writing.
