anway, so if you got one, feel special. okay?
today we sign our lease! and then hopefully we get to start moving in. but we forgot to take care of turning on our utilities until today, so we don't have account numbers for everything, so there's a chance that they won't let us start moving our stuff. (i don't know how rental companies feel about the old, "but we PROMISE we won't sleep there until the water is turned on!" routine. especially if they've looked up our rental history and know that courtney and rae and i once lived without water for almost a month, and without hot water for almost two months. so basically we lived in a tent, made out of bricks.) regardless, all is well. i hope we'll be able to get settled on the which-room-belongs-to-whom stuff, at least, and then i'll know where to put my stuff when i am allowed to move it. (i find that i tend to be very laid back about future things that i don't have any control over, but when small things that i could resolve are not resolved, sometimes it bothers me.) i boxed up a lot of my books last nite, although not all of them, and i threw away a lot of unnecessary toiletries. my goal is to move all of my stuff in stages, so that i don't realize how much stuff i have and feel the need to throw up. an admirable goal, i think. much easier than fighting consumerism.
back to knitting. back to playing guitar. back to studying the bible, motivated by the fact that i'm teaching on wednesday and it is just so interesting how much david cries in 2nd samuel. i talked to my sister this weekend, which was good, and i'm going to be skyping with my brother and his wife this evening. when i move out of my housesitting house and into my new house, i think i will miss the internet, but not the television. i don't understand how anyone who has television ever accomplishes anything.
the rest of the story about this weekend (that is, the small part that does not revolve around valentine's day), is that on friday nite i got to hang out with good friends for about eight hours. we went to free bluegrass and then we put together a futon and then we went and got giant slices of pizza and then we went to the bird's nest and then natalie took a nap and then i woke her up by crouching over her on the couch with my face really close to hers and then there was the 1 a.m adventure to IHOP with four of my friends, a bunch of drunk college students who really liked blake's french fry wallet, and a tiny deer:
