i've started this entry at least three times, and the only thing that seems to be sticking is the title. i'm finding that all of the things i think i want to talk about stop sounding interesting once i start talking about them. also, maybe i'm a little intimidated by myself, since my last entry apparently made a few people cry, and this time i won't have the assistance of my brother's wedding vows to help me accomplish that.
so let me just tell you what i've been up to lately, for the most part:
1) not cooking anything for a whole week, and then cooking for five hours at a time
2) sewing sloppy beautiful half-aprons
3) planning to teach teenagers how to write a monologue, but ending up interviewing them about being a juggalo instead
4) i mean, interviewing them about what it means for them to be a juggalo. not interviewing them to see if i qualify to become a juggalo myself.
5) but y'know. whatevs.
6) making some tough calls about Breakfast
7) being the yenta of roommates
8) practicing guitar like i'm being paid to do it. (when in reality, some people would probably pay me to stop doing it.)
9) rearranging my living room so that now it looks like an actual living room. (on a related note: stacie is THE BEST.)
10) knitting and misc. other crafting with friends (including friends like katie, who will spend an hour untangling my yarn for me, even though actually it's her yarn and i stole it).
11) studying the Bible and praying, because i think maybe there will never be an end to this unfolding of what God is really like
12) trying to think of things that i'm afraid to do, and then working my way up to doing that thing.
13) turning over the future in my mind like an omelet
14) (you will understand this better if you have ever seen me try to make an omelet.)
25) writing stories and other things
here's one:
"Erin!"
"Whadt?" she called back, with a mouth full of toothpaste.
"Are you ready?" He came around the corner, still shouting, and inadvertently shouted into her face. That made her laugh, which made her spray flecks of toothpaste foam into his face, which did not make him laugh.
"The coffee's ready," he said, holding out a yellow coffee mug filled with creamy tan liquid. His face was still absolutely unamused, and he had white specks in his beard.
Erin tried very hard to control herself, but couldn't hold back another burst of laughter. In doing so, toothpaste fell from her mouth into the outstretched mug. She frowned in disappointment, and he finally smiled.
(you're welcome.)
